2011 Chrysler 300 mpg

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

At 2011 Detroit auto show, Chrysler announced the 2011 Chrysler 300 mpg will get an estimated 30 mpg on the highway with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and the automaker’s Pentastar V-6. The combination will become available “this calendar year,” Chrysler spokesman Jiyan Cadiz told us. There were no details on what sort of Chrysler 300 gas mileage the transmission might return in the city, but the highway figure of Chrysler 300 mpg is impressive for a full-size car; the competing Toyota Avalon and front-drive Ford Taurus get 29 mpg and 28 mpg, respectively. Beside the Chrysler 300 mpg, few other details on the transmission were available, and Cadiz wouldn’t say if the eight-speed will be offered early on as an option or if it will supplant the five-speed entirely.

Its looks like just yesterday that we tempted you with our exclusive news of the 2011 Chrysler 300 mpg which will get an estimated 30 mpg on the highway. Today, Chrysler had already said about their redesigned 2012 Chrysler 300 mpg, which if equipped with the eight-speed, will achieve 31 mpg. That new Chrysler 300 mpg is not quite as cool as an extra 100 horsepower, but it’s pretty impressive considering the size and performance the LX-platform sedans offer. Even before the Chrysler 300 mpg rating popped out to be 31 mpg, however, orders for the eight-speed V-6 sedans were so strong the company had to stop taking them for a while back in June. ZF, the initial supplier of the eight-speed that will be built in-house by Chrysler starting in 2012, has already surpassed the cog count with a new nine-speed automatic. Compact and lightweight, the ZF eight-speed fit into the 300 and Charger with no structural changes and the result of this new Chrysler 300 mpg is a four mile-per-gallon increase that bumps up the highway fuel economy rating to 31 miles per gallon for both the 300 and Charger – up from the Chrysler 300 mpg rating found on five-speed which is 27 mpg, auto-equipped 2011 300s and Chargers.

2012 Chrysler 300 mpg

The 2012 Chrysler 300 mpg in the city, reported for both of the full-size sedans, checks in at 19 mpg – an increase of 1 mpg from the 2010 Chrysler 300 mpg. The 2010 Chrysler 300 mpg Touring edition packs a fuel-thrifty but anemic 178-hp 2.7-liter V6 engine which earns EPA fuel economy scores of 18/26-mpg (city/highway) – numbers that are actually surprisingly good considering the 4-speed automatic transmission.
